Although in the Italian language they have similar assonance STILISTA and STYLIST are two completely different figures. If we spoke in English we would have two completely distinct terms, DESIGNER and STYLIST respectively.

The former is the creative person who designs and creates the collection with his team, the latter is the one who by defining pairings and composing the looks creates the image and facilitates its remembrance and promotion.

The stylist must be familiar with trends, fashion history, all the news of different collections, and works closely with designers, as well as for celebrities and news outlets for which he or she writes editorials collaborating with a close-knit team of art directors, photographers, hair stylists, etc.

The stylist must have an all-around fashion knowledge (but also from other disciplines such as: film, theater, music, architecture, art, and design) to be creative and curious, willing to explore, but also to be able to dare in a limitless research process through constant research. His creativity goes beyond the limits of his comfort zone and into other territories and domains, innovative and avant-garde beyond the already known surface.

The areas in which the stylist can work are diverse and enticing, which is precisely why the job of the stylist once discovered is one of the most valued and one that arouses the most interest and passion.
The stylist has contacts with fashion houses, press offices, boutiques, and tailors, procures garments and accessories to dress models and celebrities for special occasions (festivals, red carpets, television broadcasts) and for photo shoots, catalogs, and events such as runway shows related to calendars and fashion weeks.

The stylist loves to transform, experiment, play, and impersonate different styles from dark to punk, from glam to vintage from all eras in a whirlwind of taste and creativity that are also built through solid training and interpersonal skills that are absolutely necessary to create one’s own successful network.
