Creative jobs drive the job search in the luxury market, and the big maisons have noticed. Undergraduates and graduates are following the fashion dream, which if in the past was represented only by the name of an iconic brand and that was enough, now the bar is higher.

Young people want more. Designer and fashion stylist roles top the wish list, while the practical side of making a garment interests them less. This is reported in WWD by Chantal Gaemperle, executive vice president of human resources at luxury giant LVMH, which reports a record number of vacancies, some 2,000 to be filled by the end of the year among leatherworkers, jewelers, watchmakers, and salespeople, as well as hotel and restaurant staff. To subvert this trend, the luxury bigwig has decided to increase the amount of admissions to its Institut des Métiers d’Excellence, which has trained some 1,400 people over the years to pass on its know-how.
