LINGERIE DIARIES: SHAPING LINGERIE, UN MUST HAVE! | BY @THECASHMEREDIARIES
Bonjour les filles, here we are again together for a new appointment with your column dedicated to lingerie! Today we’re going to talk about a really…hot topic!
Well yes, we’re going to venture into the world of shaping lingerie, and although I always tell you that you’re perfect just the way you are and it won’t be a girdle that will make you more beautiful, sometimes this garment can be really useful. Let’s find out why!
Often when we think of shaping lingerie, we immediately think of impossible flesh-colored sheaths, but it doesn’t have to be like that: on the market there are soft and light shaping briefs, bodysuits and sheaths, even in stretch lace. But what are they for?
SHAPE, NOT SQUEEZE
Shaping lingerie isn’t made to lose a size (also because it doesn’t work and you’ll get a stomach ache for nothing), but to shape the forms and make them harmonious under tight-fitting or curve-following clothes.
For example, a shaping bodysuit will enhance the waist while hiding the anaesthetic marks of pantyhose or briefs – it’s not about size, it’s about “smoothing” the shape of the underwear that might be visible under clothing.
A MODEL FOR EVERY NEED
Depending on the dress you’re wearing, you may need a slip, a bodysuit or a pair of shorts: whatever your choice, never – and I mean NEVER – buy shaping lingerie a size smaller than yours. Not only will it literally take your breath away, but it will inexorably mark your figure with anesthetic cuts, creating the infamous “rolls” even where there are none.
COLOR OR NUDE?
We’ve already talked about nude lingerie and how crucial it is to own at least one seamless set in your skin tone; shaping lingerie is no exception. Great to have in nude, but even with ivory or black (especially for dark evening gowns) you can’t go wrong – I personally have a black stretch cotton top that I use a lot to hide my bra mark, a must have!
IS IT GRANDMAS? JAMAIS!
Do not believe those who disdain shaping lingerie or say that they are grandmothers’ things: I defy anyone to wear a mermaid dress without a shaping bodysuit that enhances the curves … and then after Kim K has cleared customs now shaping lingerie is super trendy!
What do you say, do you use shaping lingerie or do you think it’s a last century thing? As I always say, there is a lingerie suitable for every occasion … and why ruin a beautiful dress with the signs of lingerie? Invest in quality lingerie, you’ll thank me!
See you next week with a new appointment of Lingerie Diaries!
